John Bruley (1988)
John’s high school career yielded both school records in track as well as a Division I athletic scholarship in football. In track, John set several school records and was twice named all-conference in both the discus and shot put. He graduated as the school’s all-time points leader in boys’ track and field (173). In football, John was a dominant offensive and defensive lineman, and as a senior he was named All-Conference and All-State. He attended the University of Wyoming, a frequent Top 20 team nationally. John was three year letter-winner and played in two Division I bowl games.
Ben Fick (2006)
Ben was the most highly-decorated Nordic ski champion in Forest Lake history and helped lead the very school to its first team state championship in 2005. During his six years on varsity, Ben was named All-Conference five times, All-State four times, and he was a two-time section champion and won five state championship titles. As a senior he was champion in Pursuit, Classical and Freestyle events. a rare feat. He attended the University of Utah, where he qualified for the NCAA Division I individual meet all four years, and he earned both All-Conference and All-America honors as a senior.
