Dusty Boyer
Dusty Boyer is one of the most decorated tennis players in Minnesota high school history. A 2012 graduate of Forest Lake Area High School, Dusty was a six-time letter winner in tennis and also lettered in basketball. As captain of the tennis team in 2012, he led with excellence, earning All-Conference honors in the Suburban East Conference six times and claiming the Section 7AA Singles Championship each year from 2007 to 2012. Dusty led Forest Lake to two Section 7AA Team Championships and two state team tournament appearances. His individual accomplishments are legendary: a six-time state qualifier and four-time state singles champion—an unprecedented record in Minnesota.
Dusty finished his high school career with a record of 174-13, including a 74-match winning streak and an undefeated senior season (30-0). He was named a national high school tennis All-American in 2012 and was a three-time KARE-11 Athlete of the Week.
He continued his success at the University of Nebraska, earning All-Big Ten First Team honors three times and capturing the Big Ten Doubles Championship with his brother in 2016. He played professionally on the ITF Tour and now competes in pro pickleball while coaching in Florida.
Toby Boyer
During his time at Forest Lake Area High School, Toby Boyer was a highly successful athlete. A six-time letter winner in tennis and two-time letter winner in basketball, Toby left a lasting mark on both courts. As captain of the tennis team in 2015, he earned All-Conference honors every year from 2010 to 2015 and compiled a remarkable career record of 163-15—the second-most wins in school history. He qualified for the state tennis tournament multiple times, culminating in an undefeated 23-0 senior season and a long-awaited State Singles Championship in 2015, capped by an electric finals match in front of one of the largest crowds in state history.
Toby also played a key role on the basketball team that reached the Section 7AAAA semifinals in 2012. Even with the pressure of following in his older brother Dusty’s footsteps, Toby carved his own path with relentless dedication and passion.
At the University of Nebraska (2016–2019), he was a four-time letter winner, Big Ten Doubles Champion (with Dusty), and nationally ranked in both singles and doubles. He later competed on the ITF Tour, winning a doubles title in Tunisia. Today, Toby shares his love for the sport as co-owner of On the Rise Tennis Academy.
